About this quiz
Each round shows the name of a game on Steam and asks whether it contains sexual content. "Sexual content" here means what the game's Steam store page says, through its content descriptors. These are normally declared by the developer, and Valve may review them. The quiz doesn't judge a game's content on its own, so a game can look lewd and still be marked safe, or the other way round.
The categories
Steam has three sexual content descriptors, numbered 1, 3 and 4. A game can have any of them. This quiz uses them in the order 1, 4, 3, from mildest to strongest:
| Descriptor | What Steam calls it | In this quiz |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Some nudity or sexual content | Considered SFW |
| 4 | Frequent nudity or sexual content | Counts as sexual content |
| 3 | Adult only sexual content | Counts as sexual content |
A game counts as containing sexual content only if it has descriptor 4 or 3. A game with just descriptor 1 is treated as safe. After you answer, the descriptors a game has are listed either way.
Scoring
- 100 points for marking a game correctly.
- The bonus round shows 5 tags, some of them real user tags for the game. Each tag handled correctly (a real one picked, or a decoy left alone) is worth 10 points.
- The hint shows the game's store image. Once the image has loaded, points for what's left are halved: 50 for the game if you hadn't answered yet, and 5 per bonus tag.
Where the games come from
The list is built from Steam's store, with equal numbers of games with and without sexual content. The 100 most played games and the very top sellers are left out because they are too obvious. The server picks each game. Every time, it rolls a random limit between 4 and 8, and if the games so far end in a run of one kind that long, the next one is the other kind. Only released games are included, which covers early access.
